Recent graduates join Kleeneze to make ends meet

A growing number of students graduating from university are signing up with Kleeneze as they seek to find employment during the recession and pay off record levels of student debt.

Kleeneze has reported a 188% rise in the number of full-time students and new graduates applying to work with the company.  This group now represents 7.2% of its base of UK distributors, compared to just 2.5% at this time last year.

Jamie Stewart, managing director of Kleeneze, says: “This year’s graduates are the first to have been subject to £3,000 a year top up fees throughout their courses and as such have needed to find ways to earn additional income to make ends meet.

“Our catalogues have always been popular with student customers, but increasingly we’re seeing them cross sides and apply to be Kleeneze distributors, as it offers them a flexible working opportunity with a quick return.  This year the numbers have rocketed, possibly because of the recession as traditional part-time work becomes much harder to find.”

One in ten are bossed out of their job

Just over one in ten people (11%) leave their jobs because they hate their boss, according to new research conducted by Kleeneze.

The study of over 2,000 people leaving their jobs, found that getting away from a bad boss was a major factor behind people choosing to quit.

The number one reason given for changing jobs was to earn more money (35%), often to avoid getting into debt, with 8 out of 10 of this group saying that their previous income didn’t meet their outgoings.

17% of people quitting said that they were doing so in order change their lifestyle, often to get a better work / life balance.

Jamie Stewart, managing director of Kleeneze, said: “Clearly many people leave their jobs because of a clash of personalities rather than for more practical reasons.

“We’re seeing more and more people joining Kleeneze saying that becoming their own boss was a major factor in their decision.  Obviously problem bosses play a significant role in millions of people each year changing jobs or even deciding to start their own business.”

Kleeneze launches MINI incentive scheme

Kleeneze is offering its distributors a fantastic new incentive – the chance to qualify for a MINI.

Kleeneze distributors who achieve and maintain a level of significant business growth will receive a brand new car. The incentive scheme from Kleeneze is uncapped, meaning hundreds of MINIs could potentially be given away over the course of the next few years.

Jamie Stewart, managing director of Kleeneze, said: “We’re pleased to be able to offer the new MINI incentive scheme to our hard working distributors.

“Running a Kleeneze business in your spare time can have many benefits. As well as the great motivational incentives like this, we offer our distributors the chance to work as little or as much as they like, building up their own network of distributors and either using it as a part time income booster or a full time opportunity.”

The first MINI winner Annette Bradley from Weston-super-Mare was announced at the recent Kleeneze conference at the NIA, Birmingham.

Kleeneze distributors encourage shoppers to ‘keep it local’ this Christmas

30 November 2010

With many small businesses facing tough competition over the festive season from the major supermarkets and online retailers, Kleeneze distributors up and down the country are supporting Kleeneze’s new campaign to get shoppers spending in the local community this Christmas.

Kleeneze distributors from across the UK are linking up with other independent businesses from their local area to create a leaflet which gives residents information about special offers they can benefit from or put together a hamper which showcases the products and services available locally.

The leaflets are being given out by the distributors to their customers and the hampers filled with local produce are to be auctioned off in aid of charity.

Jamie Stewart, managing director of Kleeneze, said: “Christmas used to be a booming time for small businesses but in recent years they have been increasingly out-priced and overwhelmed by the dominance of the major supermarkets and large retail chains.

“We believe it’s important to shop locally for a variety of reasons. Every £1 spent with a local supplier keeps £1.76* in the local economy, and shopping locally also helps to maintain your area’s character and promotes fewer and shorter car journeys, reducing CO2 emissions for cars.

”This year, we’re encouraging our distributors to highlight the fantastic businesses and independent traders who serve their local community by coordinating a leaflet or hamper; as they visit homes in the area delivering catalogues, they’re ideally placed to spread the word.”

Shop Local in Amesbury

An Amesbury business couple are asking traders and shoppers to support a campaign to keep spending in the local community.

Alison & Michael Ogden, who have their own Kleeneze business in Amesbury, has launched the campaign as many small businesses face another tough year.

At the same time, the major supermarkets are showing significantly increased profits after a bumper Christmas - Tesco and Sainsbury's reported a 'record' Christmas with Tesco showing a 4.9% increase in like for like sales over the festive period.

Michael Ogden said:

"Many small, independent businesses struggled last year while the big national brands and supermarkets continue to undercut them on price and dominate the market.

In the current economic climate it's more important than ever to support small businesses and make sure the money earned in the local community is spent there.

By making the decision to shop locally this year we can help support the businesses and traders that are part of the fabric of our local community."

Alison & Michael Ogden are a self-employed distributor for Kleeneze who delivers and collects Kleeneze catalogues containing over 2,000 household products and processes orders from customers.

Through Kleeneze, customers have the convenience of a personal shopping service from the comfort of their own home where Kleeneze catalogues and products are delivered straight to their door.
They are encouraging fellow traders to sign up to the campaign highlighting that it helps to:

    * Keep money in the local economy – every £1 spent with a local supplier keeps £1.76 in the local economy (source: New Economics Foundation).
    * Give shoppers a personal service and extra care – local business owners know their customers and are able to offer a more personal service.
    * Maintain local character – supporting local businesses ensures their survival and maintains the local provision of services and character of local communities.
    * Be better for the environment – shopping locally promotes fewer and shorter car journeys and local stores use less CO2 than superstores (sources: DEFRA, Sheffield Hallam University)
