Just over one in ten people (11%) leave their jobs because they hate their boss, according to new research conducted by Kleeneze.
The study of over 2,000 people leaving their jobs, found that getting away from a bad boss was a major factor behind people choosing to quit.
The number one reason given for changing jobs was to earn more money (35%), often to avoid getting into debt, with 8 out of 10 of this group saying that their previous income didn’t meet their outgoings.
17% of people quitting said that they were doing so in order change their lifestyle, often to get a better work / life balance.
Jamie Stewart, managing director of Kleeneze, said: “Clearly many people leave their jobs because of a clash of personalities rather than for more practical reasons.
“We’re seeing more and more people joining Kleeneze saying that becoming their own boss was a major factor in their decision. Obviously problem bosses play a significant role in millions of people each year changing jobs or even deciding to start their own business.”
